Kansas-Based Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Launch 2nd San Diego Location In San Marcos

November 8, 2016

Kansas-based Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has made its North County debut at 767 Center Drive in Nordahl Marketplace in San Marcos. It is the second San Diego metro-market site for the fast-casual restaurant franchise, which opened a location in National City in early October. A third location is planned for 4S Ranch.

The 3,480 square-foot location has a drive-thru, seats 100 guests and has additional seating on an outdoor patio. Freddy’s is known for lean ground beef steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs and shoestring fries, as well as dessert treats prepared with a choice of chocolate or vanilla frozen custard that is freshly churned several times throughout each day.

"Every Freddy’s steakburger starts with premium, lean ground beef," said Tim Rheem, Director of Operations for 3Pointe Restaurant Group. "We press the beef on a flat grill and cook until the edges of each patty are crispy, almost lace-like in appearance. Add two slices of melting cheese, onion slices and pickle planks on top of two steakburger patties all served on a toasted bun, and you have our signature Original Double, a guest favorite."

Co-founded in 2002 by Scott Redler and Bill, Randy and Freddy Simon, Freddy’s opened its first location in Wichita, Kansas, offering a combination of cooked-to-order steakburgers, Chicago dogs, and other savory items along with its signature desserts prepared with premium frozen custard made fresh throughout the day. Today, 227 Freddy's restaurants serve a total of 30 states across the map from California to Pennsylvania, Virginia and down the east coast states to Florida. In 2016, Freddy’s has been named for the third year in a row as one of the top 10 on Franchise Times magazine's Fast & Serious list, recognized as one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 and included on Inc. Magazine’s 500/5000 list of "Fastest-Growing Private Companies."

"A Freddy’s experience is complete only after you’ve tasted our frozen custard," said Rheem. "It’s denser, richer, and creamier than traditional ice cream, due to a churning process that eliminates excess air and ice crystals. There are several different ways we can prepare it, including a shake, malt, sundae or concrete, and you can choose to add any of our 30 toppings and mix-ins."

Freddy's is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30am to 10pm and Friday & Saturday from 10:30am to 11pm.  For more information, visit freddysusa.com.
