Greg Koch, Mayor Sanders, and Councilman Todd Gloria |
The grand opening of the Stone Company Store-South Park
occurred on June 22nd, 2011, and according to the Stone Facebook Page, the
event was a huge success with Mayor Sanders even stopping by to learn about
brewing and to declare it "Stone Brewing Co. Day" in San Diego.
The Stone
Brewing Co. Company Store will offer Stone merchandise, sell bottled beer,
and serve as a growler fill station for city residents that might not wish to
make the 45-minute plus trek up to the brewery in Escondido.
The 1100 sq. ft. retail space will host 14 rotating taps of
Stone Brewing Co. beers, including periodic special vintages and one-off
releases which will be listed and updated on the Stone website, as well as on
the Stone Company Store Twitter account: @StoneStore.
Last week, Greg Koch, Stone Brewing's charismatic CEO &
co-founder, received an Ernst
& Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011 award in San Diego, in the
Consumer Products category, and this company store is just the beginning of a
$26 million Stone
Brewing Co. expansion that is set to include a new restaurant in Point
Loma's Liberty Station and possibly a brewery in Europe.
