Popular San Diego waterfront restaurants The Fish Market and it's second story, upscale eatery Top of the Market, are closed today after well over $1 million in damage was caused by a grease fire that took place on Wednesday, May 26, at approximately 6:15pm. The grease fire started in the kitchen hood vent system and about 150 patrons and 75 employees were in the restaurant at the time, although there are no reported injuries.
Fire damage was contained to the attic, but the restaurants had smoke and water damage. There is no word yet on how long the restaurants will be closed. We are awaiting a response from a representative of the company and will update this article once we learn more.
