On Saturday, September 5, from 5-8pm, Hawthorne Country Store in Escondido will host A Most Amazing Debut to celebrate the opening of their expanded home arts department, all to benefit the Berry Good Food Foundation. Get ready to enjoy that country-living lifestyle during an evening of local wine and beer, charcuterie, pizza oven delights, goat milk gelato, homemade cheese and chef-preserved local produce, as well as interactive displays that will feature preserving, cheese making, pickling, gardening, chicken keeping, goat keeping and more. There will also be local farmers on hand to answer questions and display their CSA offerings.
More than just a store with an amazing array of useful homesteading items, tools, resources and feed, Hawthorne Country Store is a hub for home arts information and community. With the opening of their expanded Home Arts Department, they will be a resource like no other in this area. Come see how to can it, ferment it, grow it, milk it, raise it and keep it, all while sipping local wine and beer, and enjoying delectable hors d'oeurves and down-home music.
Tickets to A Most Amazing Debut are $45 and include a hosted fermentation bar (beer & wine!), charcuterie and locally made cheese, chef-preserved local produce, wood fired flatbreads, savories from local farms, lamb & pork sausages, goat milk gelato, a fermentation demo, a goat raising demo, a chicken raising demo and more.
Proceeds from A Most Amazing Debut benefit the Berry Good Food Foundation, a non-profit charity that connects, supports and promotes local, sustainable farmers and food makers to build healthy communities through a network of researchers, educators, activists and organizers.
