Brabant Bar & Cafe, a traditional Belgian beer bar and restaurant in San Diego's South Park neighborhood that opened in November 2013, took to social media today to announce that it will close for business as of December 30.
The brainchild of owner Adam Parker, Brabant offered a classic Belgian-inspired decor from a quaint cafe on the corner of 30th and Juniper streets (it replaced Vagabond restaurant and bar), a beer list that included 16 taps and more than 80 bottles of Belgian brews, and a food menu of inspired Belgian fare. The restaurant consistently received positive reviews during it's 2 year tenure in South Park. Below is the announcement that was made on Brabant's Facebook Page:
Pop in over the next few weeks for some holiday cheer, your favorite Belgian brew, and a hearty helping of Belgian grub; we’ll be providing the same great mussels, sausage and suds you’ve come to love at Brabant- right up until the minute the door closes!
Belgian-style beer and Belgian cuisine are together one of the most magical and rewarding experiences you could ever hope to enjoy, and it has been our great privilege to serve them since 2013. We have savored each sip, are grateful for every toast, and hope nothing but the best for our beloved neighborhood of South Park.
Warmest Regards
-The Brabant Family
A new restaurant tenant is already planned for the space at 2310 30th Street. Lauren Passero-Brooks of The Haven Pizzeria and Kensington Cafe will take over the location in 2016. No word yet on what type of eatery she plans on putting in prime corner unit, but we will certainly let our readers know when we learn more.
