Sirena Reopens In San Diego's Little Italy With New Name & Menu

February 10, 2016

There’s a hot 'new' Latin restaurant set to make big waves in Little Italy, whose look is as fresh as the food they prepare. After closing for a refresher, Sirena has reopened as Sirena Cocina Latina, offering a new design and menu from Chef Jaime Chavez to compliment their perfected plating.

Sirena is know for transforming local and seasonally available ingredients into carefully prepared dishes loaded with vibrant flavors and appearances. New appetizers include rarely seen treats such as Carnitas Sopes and Empanadas, along with Seafood Wings, where crab cakes are crowned with sweet-sour-spicy sauce and habanero parsley aioli. New entrees include their Po’ Boy Chilean Tenderloin and Shrimp Risotto, and a “RawBar,” where Coconut Ginger Ceviche Tostada and Ahi Tuna Tartare can be ordered and enjoyed.

“We want our guests to come back for the food, of course, but it’s also the experience of being here, that we hope draws people back time and time again, says Executive Chef Jaime Chavez. “We want every guest who walks through our doors to feel like family.”

From his extensive travels, and as the former Chef de Cuisine at El Cingle, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Barcelona, Chef Chavez has mastered a specialized style of gourmet Latin seafood. Diners’ senses are captivated by the incredible flavors and textures of every dish he presents as beautifully plated works of art.

Sirena Cocina Latina’s full bar features Latin-inspired craft cocktails such as their Berrygood Mojito, and their La Pina Picante featuring jalapeno infused vodka, muddled pineapple, zested ginger, bitters, ginger beer, designed specifically to pair with Sirena Cocina’s unique Chilean, Peruvian and Mexican-influenced specialties. An extensive list of wines and craft beer will also flow freely.

Sirena is Spanish for “mermaid,” which translates to their free-flowing nautical interior. With whimsical oceanic design, hand-painted artwork and exposed wooden walls, this forward-thinking Latin hotspot provides an unparalleled atmosphere for family gatherings, a romantic date or casual night out with friends.

Sirena Cocina Latina is located at 1901 Columbia Street in Little Italy. For more information, visit sirenacocina.com
