Como Ceviche owners Johan Engman & William Lopez |
We recently announced the news that Fig Tree Cafe and Breakfast Republic owner Johan Engman was in the process of opening North Park Breakfast Company, but we also learned that Engman has teamed up with William Lopez of Alternative Strategies Public Relations to open “Como Ceviche” in San Diego's East Village within the space previously occupied by Carnivore Sandwich. This fast-casual eatery is scheduled to open in San Diego’s East Village in early October, and it promises to offer an impressive lineup of authentic ceviche dishes inspired by recipes from Peru, Ecuador, Columbia and Chile.
Como Ceviche! will do “raw” right, bringing the ocean’s finest catch of locally sourced, responsibly caught seafood to the table. The eatery plans to take pure, basic ingredients from the sea and land and toss them together into medleys of color and flavor that are irresistibly unique and downright delicious. Ceviche bowls, salads and wraps will be prepared to eat onsite, or can be taken away to enjoy elsewhere.
What began as a business relationship between Johan Engman and William Lopez has become a lifelong friendship, where the two have shared their passion for traveling to worldwide culinary events. Now they are opening Como Ceviche! where they will act as co-owners. Engman owns the widely popular Fig Tree Cafés and Breakfast Republic restaurants and is the founder of Rise + Shine Restaurant Group, which will take Como Ceviche! under its umbrella.
Lopez is the owner and CEO of marketing communications firm, Alternative Strategies (one of our favorites!), which currently represents an impressive list of 40 successful restaurants in San Diego. He has years of behind-the-scenes experience in the industry.
"I’m anticipating great success with this unique eatery. It makes perfect sense that San Diego should feature a place where fresh ceviche is the focus," says Lopez.
