San Diego Chefs To Compete On Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen Tournament Of Terror This Fall

September 7, 2016

Local San Diego chefs Jenny Goycochea (Tasting Room Del Mar) & Osvaldo Blackaller (Cueva Bar), along with 14 other previous cheftestants, are set to face off against Alton Browns's most haunting and evil sabotages when Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen hosts the Halloween-themed Tournament of Terror for a chance to win up to $50,000, beginning on Wednesday, September 28.

Cutthroat Kitchen is a cooking competition where host Alton Brown pits chefs against one another in a bidding war to sabotage the other contestants with creative pitfalls while they attempt to cook a designated dish with 3 rounds of elimination. Beginning on Wednesday, September 28 at 10pm, fearless chefs from around the country will compete in a five-part Halloween-themed Cutthroat Kitchen tournament. Sixteen chefs will face off over four preliminary heats, with each winner going on to the grand finale, which airs on October 26.

A San Diego native, Chef Jenny Goycochea broke into the restaurant industry at North Park’s Urban Solace. Following her time there], Jenny continued to hone her skills in the kitchens at Quality Social, Flavor Del Mar, Jsix and Stone Brewing Company. She is now the Chef de Cuisine at Tasting Room Del Mar. Jenny will appear on Heat 3 of the Tournament of Terror, airing on October 12. She previously competed on Cutthroat Kitchen Season 13, Episode 7, entitled "You Dim Some, You Lose Some", where she was pronounced the winner.

Osvaldo Blackaller taught himself to cook as a young boy in a native of Monclova, Mexico. He moved to San Diego in 2009 after he and his wife, Joanna, fell in love with the city during a visit. Although he had never worked in a restaurant, Oz followed his dream and with the support of Joanna opened Cueva Bar in San Diego's University Heights neighborhood in October of 2010. Chef Oz will appear on Heat 4 of the Tournament of Terror, airing on October 19. He previously competed on Cutthroat Kitchen Season 5, Episode 2, entitled "Tos-ta-da".
