Scott Slater of Slater's 50/50 opened S&M Sausage and Meat at 4130 Park Boulevard in University Heights in November of 2014 and the restaurant was immediately met with PETA protests due to its menu of wild game sausages. Nearly two full years after its debut, the restaurant announced on social media that it will close for business on Wednesday, November 23.
S&M Sausage and Meat had an experimental vibe from the start. It's menu of exotic meat sausages, a variety of house made bacon and unexpected game meats pushed guests to the brink of their comfort zones and was a target for animal rights groups, who were frequently spotted protesting outside the restaurant. The restaurant will close for business on November 23.
Another S&M Sausage and Meat location opened in East Village as part of the Quartyard project in 2015 but closed this past summer.
