Dave & Buster’s will open its 93rd "gamebar" and second San Diego area location this January at The Shoppes at Carlsbad and is currently looking to hire nearly 300 people. A Yardhouse location and a Cheesecake Factory restaurant is also planned for late 2017 openings at the North County shopping plaza, which was purchased by Rouse Properties last year and is in the midst of a major overhaul and multi-phase renovation.
New York City based Rouse Properties, which also owns the Chula Vista Center, purchased The Shoppes at Carlsbad, then Westfield Carlsbad, in November 2015. Rouse immediately announced a major renovation to the two-story, approximately one million square-foot center. The redevelopment includes comprehensive cosmetic upgrades, improvements to the exterior and interior common areas, modernized amenities that cater to local families, including a unique, water-inspired play area, and the addition of new retail, dining and entertainment tenants.
The Cheesecake Factory, known for its extensive menu, generous portions and legendary desserts, will open a restaurant location on the lower level, across from the new 30,000 square-foot Zara retail space. Award-winning dining destination Yard House’s 10,000 square-foot location, featuring a menu of American favorites, crafted cocktails and an endless fleet of taps handles, will be street facing on the second level - adjacent to Regal Cinemas. The restaurant will feature a selection of taps dedicated to local and regional craft brews and original artwork by Orange County-based contemporary artist Jerome Gastaldi, customized to reflect the coastal locale. The new tenants are slated to open at the end of 2017. Dave & Busters, which will open in January 2017, is currently hiring 275 employees.
"Our team is thrilled to welcome the addition of some of the best retail and dining brands in the nation to The Shoppes at Carlsbad," says Brian Harper, Rouse Properties CEO. "Our goal has always been to elevate the overall consumer experience and give the residents of Carlsbad a world-class retail, dining and entertainment destination."
The Shoppes at Carlsbad is currently home to more than 100 retail options, including anchor tenants Macy’s and Regal Cinemas. Recent and upcoming new dining and entertainment tenant openings include The Pizza Press, which began to serve its ‘newsworthy’ pizzas and craft beer on November 17 of this year.
The Shoppes at Carlsbad is located at 2525 El Camino Real #100 in Carlsbad. For more information, visit theshoppesatcarlsbad.com.
