The ramen invasion into San Diego continues in 2017! Menya Ultra, an award-winning Japanese-based ramen shop that started in the early-90s, will open its first U.S. branch in Kearny Mesa at the former Do-Re-Me House space on Monday, February 27.
Ramen master Takashi Endo opened his first Menya Ultra location in Akita, Japan in 1994 and now has 11 locations around Japan and Taiwan. The restaurant has received numerous awards in Japan, including 1st Prize at the Tokyo Ramen Show in 2010-2013. The Kearny Mesa outpost will be the 12th location and first United States branch for the company.
Menya Ultra offers a menu centered upon Japanese tonkotsu ramen, making fresh noodles every day with imported Haruyo Koi flour from Japan and boasting no MSG added to the broth. The restaurant also has Japanese-style small plates with all items made from scratch. Menya will also offer beer, wine and sake. The eatery is currently hiring servers for a grand opening on February 27.
Menya Ultra will be located at 8199 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, Suite M, in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood of San Diego. For more information, visit menya-ultra.com.
