Now open at 7644 Girard Avenue within the space that previously housed Finch's Bistro in La Jolla is Green Door Cafe, an organic, vegetarian and vegan bar and restaurant.
Owned by Martin Hall, who was a frequent vendor at local farmers markets with his Green Door Catering stand, Green Door Cafe serves a mostly-vegan menu of dishes inspired by Hall's belief in the power of food as a ‘Healing Art’. Dishes are made from organic and locally sourced produce, with highlights from the menu including vegan French toast, vegan tacos, the Bombay Bomb vegan curry burger, and the vegan mac n' cheese. The eatery also serves organic beers and wines, most of which come from Southern California, as well as house-made sodas like ginger beer and root beer and fresh pressed juices and organic smoothies.
Green Door Cafe offers a homey feel with both indoor and outdoor patio seating, including an outdoor living wall where the restaurant grows much of the herbs used in its kitchen. Green Door is now open Tuesday through Thursday from 11am to 3pm, Friday & Saturday from 11am-3pm and 5pm-10pm, and Sundays from 11am-3pm.
