San Diego Council on Literacy will host its eighth annual Eat.Drink.Read at its new venue, the San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park, on Thursday, May 18, from 5:30-8pm. This tasting event & fundraiser will give foodies the chance to savor bites prepared by the city’s finest chefs who will create imaginative dishes inspired by their favorite literature while area brewers, distillers and winemakers will also offer libations. We are raffling off 2 passes to this always delicious & entertaining event.
"One in five adults in San Diego possess below-basic literacy skills," says Jose Cruz, CEO of San Diego Council on Literacy. "Many of these adults are also parents, and their children become adversely affected by low-level reading skills at home. We work to address this problem through our literacy programs which are funded, in part, through Eat.Drink.Read."
The list of participating restaurants, chefs, breweries and distilleries offering samples at this year's Eat.Drink.Read include Civico 1845, 608 Oceanside, Nobu San Diego, Double Standard Kitchenetta, Frida’s Cocina, Galaxy Taco, Solare, Stone Brewing Co., Monkey Paw Brewing Co., Port Brewing Co./The Lost Abbey/ The Hop Concept, Cutwater Spirits and many more. Tickets to the event are $75 per person and can be purchased online.
