Red O Restaurant Finally Unveils In San Diego's La Jolla

May 8, 2017

Over 2.5 years after the news first broke, Red O Restaurant is now open at 4340 La Jolla Village Drive in the 9,000 square-foot former Donovan's space across from Westfield UTC in La Jolla, offering a Mexico-inspired menu from consulting celebrity chef Rick Bayless.

The gigantic new Red O in La Jolla has received an extensive redesign and offers an elegant layout with blue chairs dotted around wood tables throughout an expansive dining room that includes a glass and mozaic encased kitchen. A tree sits in the center of the dining room surrounded by booth seating. There is a classy lounge area by the bar that has live music ever night and outdoor dining options with firepit tables.

Red O is now offering lunch, happy hour, dinner and weekend brunch in its beautiful space. The menu is designed by the brand's culinary director celebrity chef Rick Bayless, whose Chicago-based Topolobampo restaurant won the most recent James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant. Leading the kitchen on a full time basis is Executive Chef Seth Vider, who will serve an eclectic array of dishes inspired by Mexico and Southern California. Behind the bar, there will be a variety of craft, Mexican and domestic beer, wines by the glass and bottle, and more than 200 tequila varieties, as well as mezcal options and custom cocktails.

Red O La Jolla is now open daily for lunch from 11am-3pm, for dinner from 5-10pm Sunday through Wednesday and 5-11pm Thursday through Saturday. Weekend Brunch is on Saturdays & Sundays from 11am-3pm and happy hour is daily from 3-7pm.
