Popular Claremont Mesa Japanese restaurant Sushi Diner will open its second San Diego location at 10330 Friars Road in San Diego's Grantville area within the space that currently houses Sushi Bar Kazumi.
Daisuke Kobayashi opened his quaint Sushi Diner at 7540 Mesa College Drive in Claremont in 2007, which became a popular college hangout and San Diego sushi destination due to its value-driven menu of fresh seafood and its reggae & beach-style atmosphere. The new location will be similar in style and offerings to the original, with a lengthy menu of playful sushi rolls, as well as nigiri, sashimi, bento boxes, and Japanese sides. Sushi Diner 2 will take over the Grantville space within the retail shopping plaza near Kaiser Permanente Zion that also houses an outpost of Filippi's Pizza in the coming month and begin renovating for a late summer opening.
