Known from his time as the host of Travel Channel's popular extreme food show Bizarre Foods, celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern will be touring around San Diego today filming for his new series Zimmern List.
Television personality, chef and food writer Andrew Zimmern, known for his Travel Channel series Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, Bizarre Foods America and Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre World, will be venturing around America's Finest City today filming for a new Travel Channel show Zimmern List. Not too much has been revealed as to where Zimmern will be heading during his San Diego stop, but we do know that he will be at Salud taco shop in Barrio Logan around 12pm today and was at Tuna Dockside Market with CH Projects corporate chef Jason McLeod this past weekend. Rumors are swirling that he may be in San Diego's Little Italy later in the day, likely stopping at Ironside Fish & Oyster, and may be at Catalina Offshore Products and Menya Ultra at some point.
"I’ve devoted a lifetime to gathering the best food experiences all over the world," explains Zimmern. "From iconic restaurants to off-the-beaten-path markets and shops, I’m adding to my ‘best of’ list everywhere I go. The new series is about more than just delicious food on the plate. It’s all about the unique and special experience of the city, the restaurant or food stall where that dish is being served, and most importantly, the people."
Zimmern List will be a series that mixes Zimmern's philosophies on his favorite food with the people and establishments that make and serve them. The 18-episode half-hour series does not yet have an air date but is anticipated to debut this Fall.
In a 2016 episode of Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations, Zimmern featured San Diego eateries like Oscar's Mexican Seafood, Lucha Librew, Lolita's Taco Shop, National City's Tita's Kitchenette, Romesco Mexiterranean, and Poppa's Fresh Fish Company.
