The spirit of collaboration is alive and well in San Diego’s vibrant brewing community. To celebrate this camaraderie between our local craft brewers, Karl Strauss Brewing Company has rallied together 30+ independent San Diego breweries to throw an epic party during San Diego Beer Week! Introducing Collabapalooza, a beer festival featuring one-off collaboration beers and rare releases from participating breweries will take place on Saturday, November 11, and we are raffling off 2 VIP tickets to attend.
Since helping start the city’s craft beer scene in 1989, Karl Strauss Brewing Company has been committed to supporting the San Diego community. One way they demonstrate this support is by partnering with other local, independent breweries to brew & release collaboration beers that often raise awareness for local causes.
"Collab brews give us a chance to work with our talented friends in the industry who we’ve known and admired for years, and make something special together," explained Karl Strauss Brewmaster Paul Segura. "At the heart of it, we’re beer fans, and not only do we want to make good beer, but we want to drink good beer made by others too. It’s been awesome to watch this event come together and see so many independent brewers within our community jump on board and collaborate with one another. I’m stoked to try all the unique brews we co-create!"
Each participating brewery will be pouring two beers - a small batch or rare beer of their choice, as well as a beer brewed in collaboration with another independent San Diego brewery. Participating breweries include Abnormal Beer Company, AleSmith Brewing Company, Amplified Ale Works, Bagby Beer Company, Benchmark Brewing Company, Black Plague Brewing, Burning Beard Brewing, Coronado Brewing Company, Council Brewing, Culture Brewing, Duck Foot Brewing, Eppig Brewing Company, Fall Brewing Company, Green Flash Brewing Company, Half Door Brewing, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, Mike Hess Brewing, Monkey Paw Brewing, Mother Earth Brew Co., Nickel Beer Co., North Park Beer Co., Pizza Port Brewing Company, Resident Brewing Company, Second Chance Brewing, San Diego Brew Co., Societe Brewing Company, Southpark Brewing Company, Stone Brewing Company, The Lost Abbey, Toolbox Brewing, Thorn Street Brewery, and more.
"San Diego’s independent brewing scene is full of incredibly talented people," said Karl Strauss President Matt Rattner. "We’ve grown together as a community and we inspire each other to push boundaries and make better beer. Collabapalooza is a celebration of this collective spirit."
The Collabapalooza festival takes place Saturday, November 11th from 2-5pm (1pm for VIP) in the parking lot behind the North Park Observatory. Tickets are $40 for GA and $55 for VIP. VIP admission includes early entry at 1pm and a commemorative T-shirt. All passes include unlimited 2 ounce pours. Proceeds from the event will benefit both the San Diego Brewers Guild and the North Park Main Street Association.
