Halcyon Shutters San Diego's East Village Location

November 11, 2017

This past summer, Texas-based restaurant duo Stella Public House and Halcyon in San Diego's East Village underwent changes to create a larger Halcyon that also replaced Stella Public House with B-Side Bar - a game-fueled cocktail bar and restaurant. Apparently, the rebranded concept did nothing to bring in new customers, as the business has shuttered at its Fault Line Park adjacent space.

Launched in late 2014 at 1429 Island Avenue on the edge of San Diego’s Fault Line Park in the East Village, Halcyon modern coffeehouse/cocktail lounge and Stella Public House wood-fired farm-to-pizza eatery and craft beer taproom shared a 3,000-square-foot standalone space. First opened in downtown Austin, Texas over a decade ago, Stella Public House and Halcyon arrived in San Diego under the guidance of the Austin-based investment group Zebo. The East Village location likely proved a bit more difficult to handle than the company anticipated, as prospective gentrification and growth have been far slower than expected. The space is currently seeking a new restaurant tenant.

Fans of Stella Public House and Halcyon can visit the company's recently opened San Marcos' North City branch at Block C at North City - 250 N City Drive in San Marcos, CA 92078. For more information, visit stellapublichouse.com and halcyoncoffeebar.com
