Koon Thai Owners To Open Fourth Restaurant - Aaharn at University City

Last Spring, ownership of Kearny Mesa's popular Koon Thai opened its second restaurant on the southern outskirts of Little Italy - Aaharn by Koon Thai - a modern Thai eatery and bar that replicated with an outpost in National City earlier this year. The team is at it again and will soon open its third Aaharn, moving into the space currently occupied by Matsugawa Sushi in San Diego's University City.

Owned by Sermpon Phainual, the first location of Aaharn opened within the former Flight Path wine bar space in San Diego's Little Italy last April. A second location debuted in National City in February 2018. Named after the word for "food" in the Thai Language, the restaurant advertises itself as a modern Thai restaurant, offering a menu of authentic and reconceptualized Thai dishes, as well as a list of beer and wine. Both Aaharn locations boast fantastic reviews on websites like Yelp and TripAdvisor.
