San Diego-based hospitality company Eat.Drink.Sleep (Tower23 Hotel, JRDN restaurant, Decoy Dockside Dining) has been removed from their management role at Belmont Park in Mission Beach. New changes will soon take place at the beachside entertainment venue, including reconceptualizing Wavehouse, adding new menus and bringing back live music.
After Pacific Enterprises purchased Belmont Park in late 2012, they brought Eat.Drink.Sleep on board to run the amusement park and assist in reinventing new concepts within the sprawling seaside venue. The company renovated WaveHouse and built both Draft restaurant and sports bar and the rooftop Cannonball sushi bar and eatery, as well as added various rides and attractions.
"Our management agreement ended and we handed over the operations to the team on site," said Eat.Drink.Sleep. Director of Sales & Marketing Stacy Warner. "It's a great team, so I'm confident things will continue on business as usual for the most part."
Pacifica Enterprises will remain the principle stakeholder of Belmont Park. Former JRDN Executive Chef Chef Jerry Ranson, who has been with Belmont Park for over 4 years, will continue to lead the culinary charge. Chef Jerry will be debuting a new Summer menu at Draft in the coming month, focusing on putting a culinary twist to standard bar food. The Summer menu includes new items like Grilled Octopus & Marrow for the curious foodie, and other items like the new Shrimp Salad topped with savory, crispy chicharron and a bright and slightly sweet Tamarind Vinaigrette. Cannonball will also be releasing a new Summer menu.
"Eat.Drink.Sleep. is an incredibly talented group and has laid an awesome foundation at Belmont Park," commented Belmont Park Director of Marketing Michelle McKee. "They will continue to experience success in their ventures throughout San Diego. This April, Belmont Park joined forces with the culinary teams at Cannonball, Draft/Draft Coffee, Beach House and El Jefe. We are committed to continue to serve high quality food and evolve the menu & environment at Belmont Park - throughout the park and boardwalk - to satisfy our guests’ desire for a fresh escape."
Formerly The Wavehouse since Summer 2005, the expansive beachfront space has been changed into The Beach House, hoping to continue to evolve the "toes in the sand" experience that the business has become known for. The 30,000 square foot venue will soon add new Summer cocktails and brews on deck and will be making a few minor enhancements to the space. The sprawling oceanfront bar & restaurant will also reintroduce its once-popular Summer-Fall Concert Series starting on May 20, with a stage being installed where the FlowBarrel tube once was. The Beach House concert series will feature two live shows per month - one free Sunday afternoon concert for families and beach goers and one Saturday sunset/evening ticketed concert per month featuring up-and-coming area artists. While the southerly Flow Rider wave is temporarily closed due to The Plunge construction, it is expected to return next Spring along with the reopening of The Plunge Pool, which originally opened in 1925. Casual El Jefe beachfront eatery will continue to offer a menu of Baja inspired tacos and other eats, and Draft Coffee will add a few new cold Summer espresso drinks to help guests cool down.Throughout Belmont Park this Summer and Fall, from park to boardwalk, the venue will be hosting events with park-wide activities for the whole family, including a Father’s Day Car Show with beer tastings inside the park plus deals on food and drinks at Draft and Beach House. Inside the park, there will also be two new attractions - the Sky Ropes Course (where you can swing and climb your way through challenging pathways), and Jungle Gems (where kids can sift through sand to find precious jewels and treasures). Starting mid-June, Belmont Park will also bring back the Summer Kids’ Series and Family Nights where they will host free activities for kids and entertainment on select nights of the week throughout Summer and into Fall.
Belmont Park is located at 3146 Mission Boulevard in San Diego's Mission Beach neighborhood. For more information, visit belmontpark.com.
