Set to open this September in the retail outlet space that last housed PizzaRev in San Diego's Scripps Ranch community is Public House 131, a neighborhood gastropub and farm-to-table eatery whose name pays homage to its zip code.
From Bob Adamson and John Lancia, Scripps Ranch residents and longtime friends who have lived in the community for more than two decades, Public House 131 aims to be the neighborhood's go-to watering hole and eatery. Adamson is a veteran of the San Diego restaurant industry as a co-owner of Legacy Brewing in Oceanside, Legacy Brewing Tap & Kitchen in Miramar and Luigi’s at the Beach in Mission Beach. With a desire to open a Cheers-like establishment "where everybody knows your name" in his home town, Adamson quickly scooped up the space left dormant by the closure of PizzaRev in the retail complex that houses a Von's.
"Public House 131 came into concept with a bunch of Scripps Ranch friends getting together," explaiend co-owner John Lancia. "Talking about how much the community needed a local restaurant that had great food, but also a place where friends and families can hang out, Bob Adamson was looking to open another restaurant and when the location we are in opened he immediately jumped at the opportunity. He found investors that live in Scripps Ranch that wanted to be involved. Public House is the type of restaurant it will be. Public House 131 will have a full bar and offer 20 different beers on tap and a top-notch wine list. The food will all be farm-to-table with most ingredients coming from Southern California and San Diego farms. The menu includes a large variety of shareable plates, salads, sandwiches, burgers and larger entrees. Highlights include crispy Thai prawns, a cereal coated chicken sandwich, and peppered vodka fish and chips. The bar will have two garage doors that will open onto an outside patio.
