San Diego's ever-expanding Buona Forchetta group of restaurants will finally unveil its highly-anticipated Encinitas location today, as well as its new Enoteca Buona Forchetta - an Italian bodega and bistro that sits two doors down from its flagship South Park restaurant. In addition to numerous other projects currently in the works, including a Coronado offshoot and a non-profit breakfast eatery, the company also announced that it will be opening an upscale barbecue restaurant next year.
Italian native Matteo Cattaneo opened his award-winning Buona Forchetta in San Diego's South Park neighborhood in 2013 and has been packing the house since day one. In March 2017, the company opened an offshoot dubbed
Officine Buona Forchetta in Liberty Station, which coincided with the announcement of an incoming, 1,100 square foot Encinitas branch, which will "soft" open at 250 N Coast Highway 101 today from 6-9pm.

Also unveiling today almost next door to the original South Park location is
Enoteca Buona Forchetta - an 800 square foot Italian market and small-scale eatery that will serve lesser known Italian wines & beers, as well as charcuterie and cheese boards, salads, small dishes, ready-made meals & desserts, sauces, pizza doughs, and Italian specialty products. This year, the company
also entered Petco Park, announced the 2019 opening of a Coronado branch (dubbed
Garage Buona Forchetta) in the space that long housed El Cordova Garage, and revealed plans for an
unnamed, 100% for-charity breakfast eatery heading into the space that last housed Rebecca's Coffee.
The team behind Buona Forchetta also revealed initial plans to team up with former racing instructor Antonio Kawage for a new barbecue restaurant coming to 2314 30th Street in South Park at some point next year. The yet-to-be-named eatery will have a menu centered around traditional and more contemporary barbecue dishes.
