San Diego Sandwich Destination Alex's Brown Bag Closes In Pacific Beach For New Home Within Ocean Beach's Mother's Saloon

January 28, 2019

Operating from a walk up counter within Latitude 32 bar in North Pacific Beach for the past 8 years, Alex's Brown Bag will bring its authentic Philly cheesesteaks and stacked sandwiches to Ocean Beach next month, as the business is in the process of relocating to Mother's Saloon.

"We will be moving onto Mother's Saloon mid-February," explained Alex's Brown Bag owner Jim Mullen. "We are doing a best of our menu, including cheesesteaks and East Coast subs, combined with the best of Mother's menu. My buddy Colin Wickersheim owns Mother's and I bought a percentage of it. I live in OB so am really looking forward to the new location and bringing my business to my home community."

Alex's Brown Bag has been operating within Latitude 32 in Pacific Beach since August 2011. Prior to that, Alex's operated within the Mister A's building in Bankers Hill for 8 years. Allegedly, the owner of Latitude 32 sought to substantially increase the rent for the kitchen, so Mullen decided to relocate. As for Latitude 32, the neighborhood bar is still operating the walk up kitchen counter with the same staff and same food menu. They assure that nothing has changed except for the name.
