Milan-turned-San Diego residents Giacomo Pizzigoni, Andrea Burrone and Luca Salvi opened the flagship Ambrogio15 on Turquoise Street in San Diego's North Pacific Beach community in August 2016. The team expanded last summer with a stall within the Little Italy Food Hall and also has plans in place for a micro-version of Ambrogio15 to install within Del Mar Highlands Town Center's incoming, 20,000 square-foot, multi-restaurant food hall called The Sky Deck. The Ambrogio boys have no plans on slowing down and will soon open a new concept, with more on the way.
Semola Artisan Express Pasta will install as early as late September in the Little Italy Food Hall space currently occupied by Roast Meat & Sandwich Shop, which closed their Liberty Public Market location earlier this year and will soon shutter their Little Italy outpost. Like the name implies, Semola will offer scratch-made pasta dishes complimented by homemade organic sauces, as well as fresh pasta for takeaway. Based on the success of the first Semola, the team may consider applying the model to future The Sky Deck location.
Semola Artisan Pasta will be located within the Little Italy Food Hall at 550 West Date Street. For more information, visit semolapasta.com.
