Moving into the nearly 5,000 square-foot space that last housed Lemon Grove Bakery in San Diego's East County is the third area brewery from Amplified Ale Works.
First launched by owner Alex Pierson as California Kebab in San Diego's College Heights area in 2009, the company eventually relocated to its beachside mezzanine space in Pacific Beach in 2012 before transitioning into Amplified Ale Works. In order to increase craft beer production, the crew opened a tasting room and brewing facility outpost at HG Fenton's original Brewery Igniter facility in Miramar in 2016. In April 2018, Amplified expanded again, taking over the ground floor space below its Pacific Beach location to open the Backstage Beer Lounge, a rock-themed tasting room and private event space. That same year, the company also moved into the Fault Line Park adjacent building that previously housed dual concepts Stella Public House and Halcyon in San Diego's East Village and opened a second brewpub, restaurant and full service bar.
Amplified Ale Works next expansion will enable the company to immediately double its brewing output from 2,000 barrels per year to nearly 5,000. The new 4,900 square-foot, 1900s-era standalone building in central Lemon Grove will receive a remodel to offer an interior brewery with a canning line and tasting room, as well as a 1,500 square foot outdoor beer garden. Ownership will be designing the beer garden around room for a food truck with plans to bring in guest vendors initially and eventually have an Amplified truck down the road if there is a demand for it. There will also be a WeFundr campaign launched soon to allow fans of the brand to invest in the company. Upon opening the new facility, Amplified will leave its Brewery Igniter space in Miramar.
