Ale Tales Craft Beer Bottle Shop, Tap Room & Restaurant Opens In San Diego's East Village

February 7, 2020

The third location of Ale Tales craft beer bottle shop has opened within East Village's new Shift residential tower, offering an onsite retail beer shop, tap room, and fast-casual eatery operated in partnership with San Diego's Bread & Cheese Eatery.

From MIT graduate and Navy vet Claude Burns, Ale Tales is a high-end craft beer bottle shop focused on local gems and hard to find specialty releases that has locations in Albany, CA and within The Presidio Plaza in San Diego. In addition to being a craft beer aficionado, Burns is a food and beverage entrepreneur with experience in e-commerce, subscription models, and experienced based goods. He’s also the founder of Noble Brewer, a craft beer brand featuring award winning home brewers, as well as Office Libations - an innovative corporate refreshment company sited in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This week, Ale Tales opened its most ambitious location to date - a beer bar and restaurant on the base floor of the brand new Shift apartment building in San Diego's East Village. The new 3,000 square-foot Ale Tales Taproom, Bottle Shop and Event space offers a large selections of hard to find craft beers available for takeaway or onsite consumption, as well as 56 draft taps. The food component for the project is in partnership with Bread & Cheese Eatery, a grilled cheese sandwich restaurant that has a stand within Carlsbad's Windmill Food Hall. In addition to sandwiches, an array of salads, sides, smoothies, combos and desserts are also on the menu.

Ale Tales is now open Monday through Thursday from 4-10pm, Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 12am and Sunday from 2-10pm at 1520 J Street in San Diego's East Village. For more information, visit aletalestaproom.com and check out the food menu below.
