San Diego Restaurant Group Goes Non-Profit Model To Feed First Responders This Week

March 18, 2020

The San Diego Dining Group (Greystone, Osetra, Osteria Panevino, Butcher's Cut & Salwater) and Farmer’s Table Little Italy have transitioned their restaurants into nonprofit community kitchens so they can feed people on the front lines of the effort to contain the growing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

From 11am to 1pm, Wednesday through Sunday, first responders and healthcare workers will be able to pick up a complimentary family-style meal for up to four people at Farmer’s Table Little Italy or the new Saltwater Restaurant in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. The eateries will abide by social distancing guidelines and will have people line up with the recommended six feet of distance.

"The decision to transform our restaurants into community kitchens during the Coronavirus pandemic is our way of giving back to the communities we serve in the midst of trying times," said San Diego Dining Group CEO Vincenzo Loverso (pictured above). "The fact is we are going to get through this together by combining our efforts and doing our part in the community. We are working on the logistics, but we already know that we will be providing complementary family meals to the community in the frontlines of the effort to Contain Coronavirus. Being from Italy and witnessing this unfortunate pandemic unfold and not being able to be there for our families and our community, we felts the need to do so here as this is our home."

San Diego Dining Group also intends to launch a GoFundMe campaign in the near future to raise funds to help them keep the meals going beyond this week. For more information, visit sandiegodininggroup.com/
