The Natural Chicken location in San Diego's Hillcrest is being rebranded to become ZZAN, an authentic Korean restaurant and drinking establishment.
Inho Choi has owned Point Loma's 41-year-old Natural Style Chicken for the past seven years. In late 2018, Choi replicated the concept with a modernized, 1,000 square-foot version on the corner of 5th & University in the heart of Hillcrest. He is now in the process of rebranding the concept to become ZZAN.
ZZAN, which means 'cheers' in Korean, will be an authentic Korean restaurant and bar with a menu of traditional and Asian fusion dishes. The restaurant's menu will include shareable items like dumplings, gyozas, Korean-style short ribs, chicken wings, fried shrimp, Gopchang-jeongol (Korean traditional beef intestine soup), Korean fried chicken, other plates meant to be enjoyed while drinking. From the bar, expect a variety of soju and sake, including flavored varieties, as well as beer and wine. The space will be redesigned with light, comfortable booths and private table separated by dividers, in addition to some outdoor patio sidewalk seating.
ZZAN Korean restaurant and bar hopes to open by month's end at 501 University Avenue in Hillcrest.
