The founder of San Diego hospitality group Consortium Holdings (Born & Raised, Polite Provisions, Morning Glory) is in the process of taking over Bar Pink in North Park with plans to open a new cocktail bar.
Bar Pink was a North Park dive bar known during its 13 year tenure for live music and stiff drinks before shuttering amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The property was recently taken over by Arsalun Tafazoli, founder of local restaurant group Consortium Holdings. Tafazoli will surely update the design of the bar, implement a top notch cocktail program, and based on public records, plans to change the name to Part Time Lover. We reached out to Tafazoli for comment but did not receive a response.
Tafazoli got his start in San Diego's hospitality industry with the opening of Neighborhood in 2007. His restaurant group, Consortium Holdings (also known as CH Projects), now has more than a dozen concepts scattered around San Diego, including cocktail-focused Polite Provisions, classy dive bar El Dorado, neighborhood bar & restaurant Craft & Commerce with adjacent tiki-speakeasy False Idol, two locations of its Japanese fusion restaurant Underbelly, modern barbershop Dover Honing Co. (which has been closed for months), two locations of meatball-haven Soda & Swine, seafood-centric Ironside Fish & Oyster, bi-level steakhouse Born & Raised, Westfield UTC bottle shop and speakeasy Raised By Wolves, brunch-centered Morning Glory, industry-focused East Village sandwich shop and Negroni bar J & Tony's Discount Cured Meats and Negroni Warehouse with neighboring coffee shop Invigatorium in partnership with San Diego's Modern Times Beer, and the most recent concept - modern Chinese restaurant Fortunate Son.
The group also has several other concepts in the works, including rooftop sky bar & restaurant The Reading Club atop Intercontinental Hotel and a refresh of East Village's Neighborhood. There is also rumored to be a second iteration of Ironside Fish & Oyster in the works for North Park, although CH representatives have stated a different concept is planned for the space. Tafazoli has also purchased the shopping plaza at 3401 Adams Avenue in Normal Heights, which sits across the street from Blind Lady AleHouse and approximately a half mile from CH's Polite Provisions. There is no word yet on what is planned for that space.
