Con Pane Rustic Breads & Cafe Reopens In San Diego's Point Loma

December 11, 2020

Con Pane Rustic Breads & Cafe closed earlier this year after 20 years in business, but thanks to San Diego's Cohn Restaurant Group, the bakery and restaurant reopens today for take-out and delivery.

Founded in 1999 by owner Catherine Perez, Con Pane moved in 2010 from its original building on Rosecrans Street to a 4,000 square-foot Dewey Road bakery and cafe in Liberty Station. The bakery used European methods to produce more than two dozen varieties of bread, which were sold at the bakery and also via wholesale distribution to area markets and restaurants. In January of this year, the restaurant was forced to shutter.

In came local hospitality heroes David & Lesley Cohn of Cohn Restaurant Group (CRG), a restaurant company with many San Diego eateries that is known for financially backing several area restaurateurs. Con Pane Rustic Breads & Café reopens today at 8am under the Cohn Restaurant Group family of restaurants. Catherine Perez remained on as a consultant for short period leading up to the opening, guiding Con Pane’s team with her veteran knowledge of artisan baking.

The bakery and restaurant will offer a menu of house made breads, pastries, sandwiches and more. Local favorites include Con Pane’s Turkey Cobb, Almost Grilled Cheese, Brioche Cinnamon Roll, Butterscotch Latte, Point Loma Sourdough, Gruyere and Chive and Chocolate Bread, all of which will hold a place on the menu. Con Pane also aims to gradually reinstate its wholesale operations, providing product to select Cohn Restaurant Group concepts and other San Diego eateries. While the Cohns hope to eventually expand wholesale production, their primary effort is to restore the business to its zenith and welcome back Catherine’s loyal patrons.

Con Pane Rustic Breads & Cafe is located at 2750 Dewey Road within Liberty Station in San Diego's Point Loma. For more information, visit cohnrestaurants.com/con-pane-coming-soon.
