San Diego's Thorn Brewing Company is in the process of opening its 4th area location in the heart of North Park, which will be in partnership with incoming ice cream parlor North Park Creamery.
Dennis O'Connor, Dan Carrico and Eric O'Connor started Thorn St. Brewery at 3176 Thorn Street in North Park in 2012 after previously using the space as an experimental playground for home brewers. In 2017, Thorn Street Brewery took over the industrial warehouse at 1735 National Avenue in the Barrio Logan neighborhood, which previously housed the ambitious San Diego Public Market, and opened a sprawling 21,00 square foot brewhouse that now houses a multi-concept restaurant featuring Texas-style barbecue and wood-fired Neapolitan Pizza, as well as an onsite spirits brand that uses local beer in its distilling process. With the expansion from the company's flagship Thorn Street location, ownership changed the brewery's name to Thorn Brewing Company and also launched a tasting room in Mission Hills.
"So we figured beer and ice cream go together better than peanut butter and jelly," explained Thorn Brewing Company founder Dennis O'Connor. "Just putting a few of our favorite things under one roof. Be on the lookout for flavorful combinations in the form of floats 'n things."
