After 10 Years In Business, Fat Fish Cantina Grill To Shutter In San Diego's Pacific Beach

August 31, 2021

After a decade serving Mexican fare in San Diego's Pacific Beach, Fat Fish Cantina Grill has announced it will permanently close in the very near future.

"To our loyal Fat Fish guests... It saddens us to let you know that we will be closing our doors on Tuesday September 7th," read the announcement on Fat Fish Cantina Grill's Instagram page. "We'd like to take this time to thank each and every one of you who dined with us! It has been one hell of a ride! Join us the next following days for one last hoorah.   If you find yourself missing us after we've gone, head to our sister restaurant World Famous Pacific Beach."

Fat Fish Cantina Grill was opened in 2011 on the same block as Crystal Pier in San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood. The Mexican restaurant was popular for its Taco Tuesday specials and Monday lobster nights. The restaurant is owned by Austria-native Dieter May, who also has operated nearby World Famous oceanfront restaurant on the Pacific Beach boardwalk since 1994. Fat Fish is reportedly closing because it lost its lease after being outbid by a new yet-to-be announced tenant.

Visit Fat Fish Cantina Grill at 4474 Mission Boulevard in Pacific Beach before it closes on September 7. For more information, go to fatfishcantinagrill.com.
