A Southern comfort food restaurant chain founded in California's Bay Area, Huckleberry’s Breakfast and Lunch will soon open its first San Diego location.
The first Huckleberry's was opened in Modesto, CA, in 2008 by Happy Bees Inc., the family-run company started by the late businessman Beryle Burns. The third-generation company also founded the Happy Steak chain of restaurants and Perko's Cafe. Huckleberry’s currently has 18 locations with 3-4 more planned for 2021 and 10-12 in 2022. Since 2016, the Huckleberry’s brand has been owned by San Luis Obispo, CA-based franchisor Heritage Restaurant Brands, which also manage franchise opportunities for Cool Hand Luke’s Steakhouse and Perko’s Cafe Grill.
"Chip, David and I are excited to join our franchise owners as Huckleberry's is growth-ready and the timing is perfect to enter the San Diego market," commented Heritage Restaurant Brand CEO Greg Graber. "At Heritage, we've spent the last few years working with our franchisees to refine operations and build the foundation for results-driven expansion. All along we've told them our intention was to grow together and that is exactly what we are doing."
The first San Diego location of Huckleberry's Breakfast and Lunch will open in the former Souplantation space in San Diego's North County city of Escondido. Like every other Huckleberry's, the San Diego outpost will be open exclusively for breakfast and lunch from 6 am to 3pm daily. The menu follows the company slogan, "Southern cooking with a California twist," and includes items such as a chicken & waffles, crab cake eggs Benedict, shrimp po’boy sandwich, Southern beignets, breaded catfish, chicken fried steak, jambalaya, fried okra, and more. The restaurant will also serve mimosas, Bloody Marys and beer.
Huckleberry's Breakfast and Lunch is anticipated to open by spring 2022 at 1260 Auto Parkway, Suite A, in Escondido. For more information, visit huckleberrys.com and check out the menu below.
