The sixth San Diego County location of Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream will open next year in Chula Vista.
Handel's was founded in the summer of 1945 by Alice Handel, who started the company at her husband's gas station in Youngstown, Ohio, serving ice cream made using fresh fruit from her home garden. Handel’s now has more than 50 location around the United States with San Diego-based branches in Pacific Beach, Del Mar, San Marcos, Santee, and Carlsbad. There is also a location in development coming soon to Oceanside.
The newest San Diego Handel's location will open within Eastlake Terraces Shopping Center in the Otay Ranch area of Chula Vista. Like other branches, the new outpost will offer a variety of over 100 flavors of homemade ice cream and yogurt made fresh daily, one batch at a time, at each location. Local Handel's franchise owner Josh Barton also intends to open an outpost in National City in the near future.
Handel’s Chula Vista is anticipated to open in spring 2022 at 1450 Eastlake Parkway, Suite 806, in Otay Ranch. For more information visit handelsicecream.com.
