Now open in the space that last housed Beerfish in San Diego's North Park is Swan Bar, a cocktail lounge and burger eatery.
After nearly 2 years in development, Abel Kaase opened Beerfish in July 2016 with a seafood-centric menu and a wide selection of local craft beer. Last December, after being broken into earlier in the month and amid a forced shutdown of onsite dining, the restaurant was closed on what was to be a temporary basis.
Kaase decided to reconceptualize Beerfish and originally hoped to reopen as The Swan Tavern & Still with an onsite distillery. Plans changed, and the 1,500 square-foot interior and 1,300 square-foot outdoor patio has undergone a full remodel to transform the space into a dark cocktail bar. The restaurant has shifted its focus from seafood to burgers and other bar food. Being Kaase was one-time the owner of Point Loma's now-defunct burger & adult beverage destination Sessions Public, he felt poised to present a menu of signature burgers to pair well with cocktails. The bar continues to carry a wide variety of local San Diego craft beer.
Swan Bar is now open at 2933 Adams Avenue in San Diego's North Park. Follow the concept on Instagram to stay up to date.
