After leaving their Mission Hills brewery late last year, the Latchkey Brewing team is in the process of securing a much larger new home at the airport-adjacent The Landings at Carlsbad in San Diego's North County.
Founded by lifelong homebrewer Matt West and Ballast Point Brewing alumni Gerald Dollente, Latchkey Brewing Company opened in April 2018 in the space that previously housed Acoustic Ales within the 1912-built Mission Brewery Plaza in San Diego's Middletown. The Latchkey team closed its 15 barrel brewhouse last year amid the ongoing pandemic and the company is currently brewing its beer out of Viewpoint Brewing Company in Del Mar until their new space is ready to move into.
Latchkey Brewing founders are finalizing the purchase of the 2,481 square-foot space that has housed The Landings at Carlsbad, a 12-year-old eatery located directly adjacent to the McClellan-Palomar Airport. Once they move in, Latchkey's head brewer Anthony Beach will begin setting up the brewhouse and brewing beers out of the expansive space. The new location will also have a full liquor license and a complete kitchen, allowing the Latchkey kids to really amplify their offerings with cocktails and food. There will also be an outdoor beer garden deck overlooking the runway.
There is currently no word on when Latchkey Brewing will open at 2198 Palomar Airport Road in Carlsbad. For more information, visit latchkeybrew.com.
