Nearly three years in the making, the founders of San Diego's Crab Hut chain of Cajun seafood restaurants are ready to open upscale Vietnames-French fusion eatery Kingfisher in Golden Hill.
Kim Phan, Ky Phan and Quan Le opened the first Crab Hut locations in Kearny Mesa in 2007, then followed up with outposts in Downtown San Diego and Mira Mesa. We broke the news in April 2019 that the trio would be opening of a high end concept dubbed Kingfisher in the 3,000 square foot space that last housed Kafe Sobaka Restorant Pomegranate in San Diego's Golden Hill.
Kingfisher will finally open this Friday, January 14, offered a design from Ocio Design Group and a menu of Southeast Asian fusion dishes executed by George's California Modern alum Chef Jonathan Bautista. Expect a seasonal menu featuring fresh seafood, local produce, and entrees combining Vietnamese and French influences. The restaurant will also offer an expansive menu of craft cocktails from beverage director David Tye, who previously worked at The Lion's Share, Prohibition and Sycamore Den.
Kingfisher will open at 5pm on January 14 at 2469 Broadway in San Diego's Golden Hill. For more information and to make reservations, visit kingfishersd.com and check out the menu below.
