Los Angeles' award-winning bakery and coffee shop The Pie Hole is set to open two San Diego locations this spring.
Started in 2011 by co-founder Sean Brennan and "Pie Mom" Becky Grasley, The Pie Hole was founded to bring Grasley’s five-generations-old family recipes to the masses. The first location opened in the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles, and following a partnership with Fransmart, the industry leading franchise development company behind the growth of brands like Five Guys Burgers & Fries and The Halal Guys, there are now additional branches in Orange County, Pasadena, Hollywood, Santa Monica, two in Japan and one in Saudi Arabia.
The San Diego branches of The Pie Hole are expected to open this March as stands within Gelson's Markets grocery stores sited in Pacific Beach and Del Mar. The scratch-made menu will feature both traditional and modern pie flavors of the sweet and savory variety, including the company's famed Earl Grey pie, as well as mini pies, signature Pie Holes, empanadas, hand pies, cookies, ice cream and pie pints. Menu mainstays include Mom’s Apple Crumble and Cereal Killer Pie, which has a vanilla wafer crust, and a filling made with a cream cheese base packed with Fruity Pebbles and then topped with Froot Loops. The Pie Hole will also sell coffee and espresso drinks made with beans sourced from co-op and family-owned farms.
The Pie Hole will open this spring inside Gelson's supermarkets at 730 Turquoise Street in Pacific Beach and 2707 Via De La Valle in Del Mar. For more information, visit thepieholela.com.
