Taking over the space that long housed Pannikin Coffee & Tea in La Jolla is Il Giardino Di Lilli, an Italian cafe set to open this summer.
Italian natives Edoardo Ciulli, Stefania Sciomachen and Giuseppe Scognamiglio would meet almost everyday at Pannikin La Jolla before the beloved cafe shuttered last month due to an inability to come to lease terms with the building's owner. When they heard about the impending closure, they inquired with the landlord about leasing it themselves and eventually signed a 15 year term for the space to open their own coffee shop, named Il Giardino di Lilli.

Translated to Garden of Lilly, Il Giardino di Lilli is lovingly named after Sciomachen's grandmother Lilliana, who passed away several months ago at the age of 95. After a superficial remodel of the building's interior, the Italian-style cafe will open with a menu of coffee and espresso drinks, pastries, and breakfast and lunch offerings, as well as the possibility of dinner to be added in the near future.
Il Giardino di Lilli is anticipated to open this July at 7467 Girard Avenue in San Diego's La Jolla. For more information, visit lillilajolla.com.
