Gaglione Bros Famous Steaks & Subs Ends Run In San Diego's Point Loma After Nearly Two Decades In Business

July 30, 2022

After nearly two decades serving Philadelphia-style cheesesteaks in San Diego's Point Loma, Gaglione Bros Famous Steaks & Subs has shuttered its Midway District location. The space will soon become Evan's Deli & Brew.

Brothers Joe, Andy and Tony Gaglione opened their first sandwich shop in San Diego's Point Loma neighborhood in 2004 and immediately gained a loyal following for its menu of Philadelphia cheesesteaks, sandwiches, and smothered fries. In 2010, the brothers opened a second location off Friars Road near Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Grantville. Gaglione Bros has also had a stand inside Petco Park stadium since 2017 and will be one of the opening vendors at San Diego State University's incoming Snapdragon Stadium, set to open this coming September.

Gaglione Bros has shuttered its flagship Midway district location as of today. The space will soon be taken over by Evan Barash, who will open a new sandwich shop Evan's Deli & Brew in the sprawling unit within Midway Towne Center. Gaglione Bros will continue to operate its Friars Road branch and may open additional locations in the near future.

"For 18 yrs Gaglione Bros in Pt Loma has been a fixture in the neighborhood!," posted owner Joe Gaglione to the company's social media channels. "It is through our great teams over the years and the thousands of loyal customers that we had such a tremendous run. It saddens me to say that the run has come to an end and our Pt Loma location is now closed. I am happy to say that our Friars Rd location is healthy & strong and will remain open for many years to come. I am also excited for our newest partnership with the soon to be open SDSU SnapDragon Stadium, first game is Sept 3rd! Thank you to all the staff and wonderful guests I have had the privilege to work with and serve! See you at Friars Rd, Petco Park & SnapDragon Stadium."
