Steamy Piggy & Formoosa Restaurant Ownership To Bring New Latin-Inspired Eatery To San Diego's Kearny Mesa

July 1, 2022

From the team behind Steamy Piggy and Formoosa restaurants comes incoming concept Flama Llama, a Latin-inspired eatery opening in the space that last housed Chef Chin in San Diego's Kearny Mesa.

In 2017, Franklin Chou-Chan launched dumpling-focused Chinese restaurant Steamy Piggy in the plaza that houses the original Tajima off bustling Convoy Street in San Diego's Kearny Mesa. Earlier this year, Chou-Chan unveiled Formoosa Tawaiianese restaurant in the Kearny Mesa plaza that also houses RakiRaki and O’Brien’s Pub.

Chou-Chan's next restaurant will be called Flama Llama and offer a menu of Latin American cuisine including South American dishes like Ropa Vieja, Lomo Saltado and Mojo Pork. Expected to open by year's end in the space that housed Chef Chin for over a decade, Flama Llama will also offer a menu of beer, South American and Spanish wine, and sangria.

Flama Llama is anticipated to debut by this fall at 4433 Convoy Street in San Diego's Kearny Mesa. For more information, visit flamallama.com
