Oregon's Cult Favorite Dutch Bros Coffee Continues Northern San Diego Expansion

August 3, 2022

Known for its team of 'broistas' and menu of energy drinks, Oregon-based Dutch Bros Coffee has announced its third San Diego location.

Brothers Travis & Dane Boersma founded Dutch Bros Coffee as a double-head espresso machine on a pushcart in Grant Pass, Oregon in 1992, and the company now boasts more than 500 mostly drive-through exclusive locations in the United States, with plans to expand to 4,000 in the coming years. The Boersma brothers were working on their family's dairy farm when they came up with the idea of selling coffee. The company went public last fall and is now regarded as Oregon's fifth-most-valuable company. Dane Boersma died of Lou Gehrig's disease in 2009 at the age of 55, and the company now holds an annual Drink One For Dane fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Dutch Bros Coffee will open its first San Diego locations in North County, specifically Oceanside in August/September and Escondido in late 2022, with plans to launch a Vista outpost in 2023. More branches will open around America's Finest City in the coming years. Expect a "good vibes"and "Dutch Luv" culture and a large variety of customizable coffees, caffeinated beverages, and other drinks including hot tea, iced tea, energy drinks, smoothies, hot cocoa, freezes, soda, lemonade, and its exclusive Dutch Bros Blue Rebel energy drink, as well as a "not-so-secret menu".

The first San Diego location of Dutch Bros Coffee is believed to be opening at 1700 Oceanside Boulevard in Oceanside with the second branch to be sited at 507 W Washington Avenue in the North County community of Escondido and the third sited at 2645 Melrose Drive in Vista.
