From the owner of Lia's Lumpia food truck, Milagros is an incoming Filipino restaurant replacing the short-lived Cafe Califas in San Diego's Barrio Logan.
Spencer Avery-Santos Hunter has operated Lia's Lumpia food truck and catering since for the past several years, even competing on Food Network's The Great Food Truck Race. Hunter's next project is Milagros Modern Filipino restaurant, taking over Cafe Califas in Barrio Logan, which was only open since March 2022. The space will initially be used as a permanent parking area for Lia's Lumpia, which will sell from the front area of the home-turned-eatery.
Lia's Lumpia will begin serving beginning this November with Milagros anticipated to open in spring 2023 at 2219 Logan Avenue in San Diego's Barrio Logan community. For more information, visit huntershomekitchen.com.
Named after the owner's grandmother and meaning "miracle" in Spanish, Milagros will be a casual restaurant serving a menu of modern Filipino food inspired by family recipes, including a Filipino smash burger, chicken adobo, and pork belly Sisig tacos. The backyard of the restaurant will be outfitted with a kitchenette and operate as a home base for Lia's Lumpia, which will sell dozens of lumpia spring roll flavors from a fast-casual window.
