The team behind Common Stock bar & restaurant in San Diego's Hillcrest has plans to open two new restaurant concepts in 2023, including one at the former Bankers Hill Bar + Restaurant space and another in North Park.
From Anderson Clark & Brian Douglass, who are both former Hillstone Restaurant Group employees and Ivy League graduates (Cornell and Yale, respectively), Common Stock first opened in the space that last housed Salt & Cleaver in Hillcrest in September 2018. The restaurant melds fine dining and fast-casual, offering a classy, New York City meets Copenhagen minimalist design and a concise menu of American comort foods. In 2020, the Common Stock team took over Farmer & The Seahorse in Torrey Pines and implemented a new, all-day menu by Common Stock corporate chef Sam Deckman (the son of Valle De Guadalupe's Michelin-starred chef Drew Deckman). The Common Stock crew has recently taken over the former Bankers Hill Bar + Restaurant, which announced plans to relocate last fall (although there has been no update on this actually happening). In the former Bankers Hill space, expect a new bar & 80-seat restaurant concept centered around house-made, locally-sourced, farm-fresh California cuisine, as well as a full raw bar with fresh seafood. The Common Stock team is also opening a new, 1,200 square-foot eatery centered around wood-fire cooking within a longtime craftsman-style home at 3376 30th Street in North Park.
Common Stock's yet-to-be named newest bar & restaurant is anticipated to open as early as March 2023 at 2202 4th Avenue in San Diego's Bankers Hill neighborhood with the North Park eatery estimated for July 2023. For more information, visit eatcommonstock.com.
