A popular area chicken & waffles restaurant is opening a new location in downtown San Diego.
In fall 2020, SDSU-grad and Ethiopia-born Genemo Ali opened Ali’s Chicken and Waffles from the back counter area of Donut Star in San Diego's City Heights. Specializing in Halal renditions of classic comfort foods, Ali's offers a secret chicken seasoning prepared with three different flours and a spicy version prepared with fresh Thai chilis.
Ali's Chicken & Waffles will soon open their second area eatery in the space that last housed Ramaki Japanese restaurant in northern downtown San Diego. The restaurant will grand open on January 15, when it will offer patrons 20% off the entire order. Expect an all-day menu of fried chicken and waffles, chicken sandwiches, shrimp and grits, burritos, fries, quesadillas and sides, as well as breakfast options.
