Longtime San Diego Japanese restaurant Sushi Diner has announced its impending closure in Clairemont.
Daisuke Kobayashi opened his quaint Sushi Diner at 7540 Mesa College Drive in Clairemont in 2007, which became a popular college hangout and San Diego sushi destination due to its value-driven menu of fresh seafood and its reggae & beach-style atmosphere. In 2017, Kobayashi opened Sushi Diner 2 in Grantville within the retail shopping plaza near Kaiser Permanente Zion that also houses an outpost of Filippi's Pizza.

Sushi Diner 1 will shutter after end of service on Tuesday, January 31. Sushi Diner 2 will remain open at 10330 Friars Road in San Diego's Grantville area.
