San Diego's Valley Farm Market Planning New Grocery Store & Eatery For Del Mar

March 9, 2023

San Diego's more than 60-year-old Valley Farm Market is planning to open a new outpost of its grocery store and eatery on the base floor of Del Mar Plaza.

Established in the San Diego East County community of Spring Valley in 1956 by Felix and Eleanor Marso, Valley Farm Market has been operated by the founders' four children over the years and is now managed by grandson, Derek Marso. In fall 2019, Valley Farm opened a 5,000 square-foot outpost in La Jolla within a newly-built mixed-use complex near Windansea beach. The family also owns and operates a country-style restaurant and lodge in East County dubbed The Outpost by Valley Farm. In addition to a commitment to sourcing only the finest food items, Valley Farm has come to be known for hosting frequent community events and supporting area charities and youth sports teams.

A new Valley Farm Market location is in the panning stages for Del Mar, with the goal to install in the ground floor space that currently houses Folio Design in Del Mar Plaza. Like the two other locations, expect the store to house an onsite butcher counter, fish market, grocery area, and barbecue-focused eatery. There will be prime cuts of organic meat and sustainable seafood for purchase, as well as a large array of organic produce and a full market with specialty items and basic necessities. The store also aims to sell a variety of craft beer and wine. From the prepared foods section, expect to see plenty of barbecue, including the company's famous brisket, tri-tip, pork shoulder, rotisserie chicken and side dishes, as well as a full menu of made to order items like sandwiches, burgers, tuna poke nachos, a California burrito and Imperial Valley carne asada fries.

If all goes as planned, Valley Farm Market is anticipated to open by year's end at 1555 Camino Del Mar, Suite 105, in San Diego's North County community of Del Mar. For more information, visit valleyfarmmarkets.com.
