In more breaking San Diego beer news, South County-based Thr3e Punk Ales Brewing Company is taking over the space that last housed Mikkeller in San Diego's Little Italy for the opening of a new tasting room.
Founded by beer and punk music aficionados John Marshall, Kevin Lewis, and Steve Garcia, 3 Punk Ales began in 2015 brewing beer at Butcher’s Brewing Company in Santee before opening their own brewery and tasting room on Third Avenue in the heart of Chula Vista in summer 2017. The company became know for its series of beer collaborations with well-known rock bands and has been integral in leading the "South Bay Uprising", a movement of sorts to promote South County San Diego's breweries.
Thr3e Punk Ales has recently signed a lease to take over the quaint space on India Street in Little Italy previously occupied for five years by the last U.S. tasting room of Copenhagen-based Mikkeller Brewing, which shuttered last April. Expect the tasting room to have its walls plastered over with 3 Punk's black-and-white concert posters and a handful of taps serving signature craft beverages like Hops on a Plate Hazy Pale Ale, POG Hard Seltzer, Colby Beef San Diego Red Ale, and much more. There will also be a merchandise area and beverages available for takeaway.
Thr3e Punk Ales new tasting room is expected to open this August at 2021 India Street in San Diego's Little Italy neighborhood. For more information, visit 3punkales.com.
