Washington D.C.-Based Mediterranean Food Chain Cava To Open Sixth San Diego Location

June 21, 2023

Washington D.C.'s CAVA Mediterranean restaurant chain is continuing its local expansion with the opening of the company's sixth San Diego location.

CAVA was founded in 2011 by childhood friends Ted Xenohristos, Ike Grigoropoulos, and Executive Chef Dimitri Moshovitis. The restaurant was created to bring Mediterranean food to a wider audience, using ingredients made from scratch in-house every day to prepare customizable dishes like salads, grain bowls, pita sandwiches and entree plates. The assembly line ordering system features over 50 offerings and 58 million possible combinations of ingredients and flavors. Cava is now a publicly-traded company more than 200 locations around the country, including San Diego branches in Encinitas, Del Mar, La Jolla, Carmel Ranch and Mission Valley.

The newest CAVA location will open within the Creekside Marketplace plaza in San Diego's North County community of San Marcos. Like other branches, the assembly line ordering system will offer over 50 dishes, sides and toppings, with over 50 million possible combinations of ingredients and flavors.

CAVA is expected to open in late-2023 at 573 Grand Avenue in San Diego's San Marcos. For more information, visit cava.com.
