Longtime area grilled cheese sandwich pop-up and caterer, Bread & Cheese Eatery is bringing three concepts under one roof in San Diego's North County.
In 2017, lifelong friends Devin Gneiting and Justin Frank launched Bread & Cheese Eatery as a roving eatery and catering company, frequently seen at area breweries and farmers markets. The duo eventually opened a stand within Carlsbad's Windmill Food Hall but have since left the collective. The company also once operated the food component within Ale Tales tasting room in San Diego's East Village.
Bread & Cheese is currently installing its first standalone brick-and-mortar restaurant in the space that last housed Ben & Esther’s Vegan Jewish Deli in Oceanside. In addition to a menu of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, the eatery will house new concepts Pineapple Crush smoothies and And Breakfast Burritos.
Highlights from the grilled cheese menu include The Classic with cheddar and provolone cheese on garlic sourdough bread; Pizza-Grill-Zoni with provolone and pepperoni between parmesan marinara-grilled sourdough, and the Reuben with Swiss cheese, pastrami, sauerkraut and 1000 Island dressing on grilled sourdough. The eatery will also have an array of loaded breakfast burritos and blended smoothies served in a hollowed pineapple.
